The bags on this page hang on the push handles of a wheelchair by two straps with buckles, with the body of the bag flat against the back of the chair, so the weight rides on the frame rather than on a lap. Both open from the top, where the person pushing can reach, and one of them carries an insulated pocket for a drink or a medication that must not warm up. The cloth is water-resistant on the outside and wipes clean, and the straps adjust to the handle spacing of most folding chairs.

The walker basket is the third piece and the one people write in about: a basket that clips to the front bar of a folding walker with two hooks, carries a tray on top for a plate and a cup, and a cup holder at the side for the drink that would otherwise ride in a hand that should be on the frame. It comes off in one movement when the walker folds. The CDC's STEADI programme, linked on this page, reports that more than one in four people aged 65 and over falls each year; a basket does not change that figure, and we do not say it does. What it does is take a plate out of a hand.

Which walkers does the YTONET walker basket fit?

Folding walkers with a front cross bar, with or without front wheels: the two hooks go over the bar and a strap holds the basket against it. It does not fit a rollator with a seat, whose bar is in a different place; the CADTH review we link sets out the three walker types if you are not sure which yours is.

Does the YTONET wheelchair bag fit an electric wheelchair?

The straps buckle round push handles or an armrest, so the bag fits any chair with either. On a power chair with no push handles the bag hangs from the armrest, and the tray-and-hook of the walker basket does not apply to a chair at all.

Can you wash the YTONET wheelchair bag?

The outside wipes clean, and the insulated pocket lining wipes with a damp cloth. The label sewn into the bag governs anything more than that, and where the label and this page disagree, the label wins.
